Enrollment

The Redlands Independent Study program (RISE) is currently enrolling full-time students in grades First through 12th grade. As a free public school, we are viable option for many, including home schooling families that desire to increase the level of rigor of the curriculum available to their students, while maintaining control of the physical learning environment. Upon satisfaction of graduation requirements students are awarded a traditional high school diploma from their home school and the Redlands Unified School District.

RISE students benefit from the flexibility that online learning provides, including opportunities for course acceleration, unique enrichment programs, online mentors, face-to-face mentors, and access to learning 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

We are a BLENDED learning site, meaning our online courses also incorporate at least weekly face-to-face learning sessions with both teachers and peers in a small group setting, including wet labs in all lab science courses and participation labs for first and second year PE courses.

Online learning is NOT for everyone. It requires a great deal of self-discipline and self-monitoring, common characteristics of independent learners. Online classes also require a great deal of reading, writing and interacting with others through the use of discussion boards and at-school activities and labs. To ensure that students are a good match for our blended learning environment, we have an extensive enrollment process.
